I am the Texas Prepper Mom, or as the nick name I earned on TikTok "The Soccer Mom of Prepping"! How did I get into prepping you may ask? Growing up along the coast of Texas, we always prepared for hurricanes, and we knew to have the basics: water, food and candles. I was a Girl Scout and went to Girl Scout Camp. In high school, I was in the JROTC program and participated in their summer survival programs and continued with the local college ROTC program for a survival class until I enlisted in the U.S. Army.
I turned 40 last year, so I still have Pinterest boards for food, survival and decorations. I am a Target Mom who can spend hours in the camping section of Walmart. I love survival gear, long term food storage, organization, and learning to garden.
When the winter snow storm hit Texas in February 2021, and we spent days with no power, I realized that I was not as prepared as I thought I should have been, so I stepped it up.
I began seeing preppers on TikTok share their content. It encouraged me to share my knowledge on prepping, in a way that wouldn't overwhelm anyone. I test out products and food, take you step by step to create emergency kits, explain the pros and cons of different food storages and so much morel I will share my wins and fails along the way as well and we will have a great time along the way. If you want to take the steps to ensure that your family is prepared for an emergency, natural disaster, or beyond that, stay awhile and let's get started.
